Jennifer Jaffrey, Casting Director

Following 18 years in Radio and Television production at the BBC in London, Jennifer embarked on a career as a freelance Casting Director in India, working on international feature films like Ismail Merchant’s Perfect Murder and The Deceivers. Other film credits include the French film Manika Manika and the award-winning Canadian films Bye Bye Blues and Masala.

While living in India, she also set up an advisory service for foreign film-makers and acted as Co-Producer during the development period of an American film The Sign of the Scorpion.

Returning to the UK in 1989, Jennifer continued to work as a Casting Director on productions like Guru in Seven; On Dangerous Ground and Eye of the Storm - four 90 minute films for Satellite television. Then in 1993, she established her own Personal Management company – Magnolia Management. Her select list of highly talented actors of various nationalities included her internationally acclaimed husband – Saeed Jaffrey OBE. She has discovered the talent and established the careers of many actors both in this country and in India – including Ayesha Dharker –star of Bombay Dreams and Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee; Hannah Waterman – Laura Beale in Eastenders and Indira Joshi in The Kumars at No. 42.

In November 2004, Jennifer moved to a suite of offices at Pinewood Film Studios and set up Jaffrey Management Ltd. She continues to represent actors of all nationalities and from time to time, she works as a Casting Director on feature films. She is highly respected by Casting Directors and Directors and is known for her integrity.

During her 40 years in the business, Jennifer has garnered a wealth of experience and a network of worldwide contacts. Patrick Newley has written a delightful Profile on Jennifer in The Stage newspaper. This is the first time a Casting Director or Agent has been featured in this way.
